Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect during a counseling session? Your first session is the initial evaluation where we will discuss your goals for therapy, and address your mental health and family history. We will review your consent forms that were completed prior to the session. Your follow-up sessions will be personalized based on your treatment goals.
How long are the sessions? The therapy hour consists of 53-minute sessions.
Do you accept insurance? Yes. We accept Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Carelon and Quest at this time. We are in the process of credentialing with United Healthcare and will notify clients once we are in their network. Rubie Pearl can provide you with a superbill to provide your insurance company in the meantime. However, we cannot guarantee that you will be reimbursed for your sessions. We accept credit/debit cards for private payment and co-pays.
What is your cancellation policy? Your session is dedicated time and space for you. With that, sessions must be cancelled within 24 hours to avoid the $75 cancellation fee to be charged to the card on file.
Do I need to prepare for counseling? Your courage to make the call and show up to your first session is all you need to do. There may be times when you are provided activities to implement "in between sessions" but other than that....Just Be You.
What if this is my first time in counseling? Several of my clients have never been to therapy, so you are not alone. I can understand the anxiety of having to share your story, goals, fears with a stranger. During your first session and any others, you will be provided the opportunity to share any concerns and ask any questions that you may have. Please feel free to bring your coffee, tea, blanket, favorite sweater or journal to your session for comfort.
Do you see adolescents and teens? Yes, I do provide counseling services to teenage girls 13+ years of age.
